Wildcats Wrap 23 June

As the NBL off season rolls on, many Perth Wildcats players are taking to the court overseas and to the NBL1.

Catch up with what players are playing and how the players are performing.

Corey Webster:

After winning the Basketball Africa League championship with Egyptian side Al Ahly basket, Corey Webster has joined the NZNBL signing with the Canterbury Rams in Christchurch.

Corey’s first game came on Thursday against the Otago Nuggets, when he scored 18 points to go along with 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steals in 25 minutes off of the bench.

Tai Webster:

Tai Webster also played his first game of the season for the NZNBL, with his Otago Nuggets coming up against his brother and the Canterbury Rams.

Tai was dominant finishing up with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the sides 13-point comeback victory.

Hyrum Harris:

Hyrum Harris and the Hawke’s Bay Hawks were unable to grab a win in their past three games in the NZNBL, recording three close losses from their past three matches.

Harris’ best game throughout this stretch came against the Nelson Giants, where the forward had 22 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks.

David Okwera:

After a stint in America, David Okwera has returned home to Perth and joined NBL1 team the Perth Redbacks.

In his first game for the side, Okwera came off the bench and scored 7 points, along with 3 rebounds and 2 assists in a win over the Eastern Suns.

Ben Henshall:

Ben Henshall and the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence are rolling, adding another three wins to their dominant season.

Henshall’s strongest performance of the last three games came against the Central Coast Crusaders, where he finished up with 23 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals.

Michael Harris:

Michael Harris is continuing to put up numbers for the Otago Nuggets in the NZNBL, with two 30+ point games, and two 20+ point games from his last 5.

In the most impressive of the stretch, Harris put up 33 points including 6 3PM, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in a win over the Wellington Saints.

Kyle Zunic:

Kyle Zunic has put up his best performance of the season so far playing with the Northside Wizards in NBL1 North with 32 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists in a win over the Rockhampton Rockets.

Over his past four matches, Zunic is averaging 19.75 points, 4 rebounds and 6.25 assists.

Jack Andrew:

With four games off the bench and one start over his past five, Jack Andrew has provided the Otago Nuggets with some solid minutes in the NZNBL.

His best performance came in a win against the Wellington Saints where he posted 13 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist in 17 minutes off the bench, providing the Nuggets with a spark on the offensive boards.
