Five days after becoming a father for the first time, Perth Wildcats import Dylan Windler starred to lead his team to an important road victory over Adelaide 36ers.
Windler and wife Lauren only welcomed baby girl Lyla into the world on December 23.
The former first-round NBA draft pick celebrated the new arrival with a dominant performance, racking up 24 points, including six three-pointers, eight rebounds, six assists and four blocks as the Wildcats prevailed 116-92 to make it three wins from their last four games on the road amid a seven-game away stretch.
Speaking post-match, Windler described the week as the best of his life.

“I love them so much. It’s been the best week of my life. She’s the sweetest thing ever. I’m just so happy right now,” Windler said.
“It’s been a crazy week for me. Having the birth of my first child five days ago and coming in trying to make sure I was getting sleep to get ready for these games but trying to enjoy the moment. It’s a pretty surreal experience. I’m just trying to enjoy it.
“Going into the game, I felt a little down and a little tired. Fortunately, once the game got going, I caught that second wind and got some energy. Probably baby Lyla gave me that little extra boost there. I’m happy right now.”
Windler was already up to a season high six triples and 20 points by half-time to set the tone for a massive performance from his team.
Bryce Cotton was another impressive performer with 21 points and a career-high 12 assists, with Keanu Pinder (23 points, nine rebounds and three blocks) having a real impact off the bench.
The Wildcats, sitting fifth on the NBL ladder with an 11-9 record, fly back home on Sunday to prepare for another road clash, this time against New Zealand Breakers in Auckland on Sunday 5 January.
